Dr. Brad Schwall created and wrote Cool Kids. Through his experience in counseling parents and children and leading workshops for parents, counselors, and teachers, he saw the need for an interactive program that teaches children social and emotional skills.
Dr. Brad has been providing counseling, leading social and emotional skills classes for children, training counselors and educators, and facilitating parenting workshops for over 16 years. The Cool Kids curriculum is used by schools across Texas as well as outside of Texas. Buckner International and community centers use the curriculum resources in children's programming. Cool Kids classes and workshops have also drawn high-attendance crowds and have proved to be effective tools for attracting parents to PTA programs and parent education opportunities.
Dr. Brad is featured in regular news segments about parenting on Dallas/Fort Worth’s ABC affiliate, WFAA-TV, and he writes a blog for the Dallas Morning News Dallas Moms Blog. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in education from Baylor University and a doctorate in pastoral psychotherapy from Garrett Theological Seminary at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. In addition to his work on Cool Kids and continued curriculum development, Dr. Brad provides counseling at the Pastoral Counseling and Education Center in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Brad and his wife, Lynn, have two Cool Kids of their own, Sam and Grace.
